Laura Dooley

Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate

Supervised by Chelsea Yurkovich

Laura@olivehousecounseling.com

Laura has experience working with adolescents and adults. She has always felt a deep desire to

sit with people in the midst of their suffering. As a counselor, Laura believes in creating a space

in which clients feel safe enough to allow her to step inside the hurt and darkness they’ve been

dealing with. As a client exhales the heaviness of their experiences, Laura can serve as a helper

to gently guide and untangle the threads that piece together the picture of what is going on deep down. She then works with clients to find what feels right to help them navigate their way

through, by the light of hope and within the safety of genuine and warm relationship.

Laura practices an integrative approach utilizing modalities like Cognitive Behavior Therapy,

Child-centered Activity Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy while also pulling activities,

information, and guidance from other theories and modalities to fit each client. She doesn’t

believe in a “one size fits all” approach and strives to be intentional in the way she encourages

clients to show up in session and become an active participant in their healing. Not everyone

processes, thinks, heals, or grows the same way and Laura is a firm believer in openly inviting

“different” into the therapeutic space. Laura provides counseling that is affirming of all parts of a

person’s identity. She does this by operating from a trauma- and neurodiversity-informed lens

and creates a space that is LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and neurodiversity affirming.

Laura was born and raised in West Texas, but feels she may have been born in the wrong state

due to her love for cold weather, coffee, and sweaters and her disdain for Texas heat and

unnecessary sweating. She loves hanging out with her husband whether it’s binge watching a

new show or searching for hidden treasures at local estate sales. She also enjoys cuddling,

playing with, and serenading her three fur-children Mark (cat), Derek (cat), and Theo (dog).
